How We Treat
Getting Started
Patient appointments may be scheduled securely online
Select appointments are available after hours and on weekends
Same day appointments may be available even if not shown on the calendar depending on clinical need
Paper charts can be utilized for added security
Once an appointment has been scheduled, you will receive an email explaining how to add your contact information and upload your forms and documents
Patient appointments may also be cancelled and rescheduled online for your convenience
Should an out-of-town family member or friend become ill during a visit to our area, we will be happy to see them in the office and assist with their medical care as though they were a member of our practice
What To Expect
The Initial Psychiatric Evaluation (intake) is typically scheduled as a single 90 minute session and may require additional time for more complex cases. Additional sessions are always available as needed
Our state of the art EKG ensures issues such as anxiety and palpitations are not due to an underlying cardiac arrhythmia
No Sticky Probes required!
After you have scheduled your intake appointment, our clinical director can assess whether your needs are a good fit for the practice and areas of expertise
99% of patients can be managed within the practice, but features such as frequent self harm, court ordered treatment, and recurrent involuntary hospitalizations are best managed with multiple community providers that offer wrap around services
If your treatment needs demand a higher level of care beyond what we can provide, we will coordinate treatment recommendations and referrals to support your needs
Please upload through the patient portal all of the history forms, previous evaluations, testing, labs or other information you want the physician to review as part of the evaluation
Previous medical records will allow our physicians to know what not to repeat and helps for efficient information gathering. Sometimes unsuccessful treatment efforts are clues to the correct diagnosis and the best treatment approach possible
Detailed receipts are provided, after payment, with patient specific diagnostic codes
If you wish to schedule with our clinical director, please email admin@dmvtreatment.com or call 703-839-0143

Prescription Refills
Refills will be provided at appointments and sent electronically to the pharmacy you designate
We have relationships with local pharmacies that can compound medications to doses not available at CVS or Walgreens
Controlled Substances
Our providers have DEA licenses to prescribe controlled substances and numerous disorders have FDA approved treatments that require queries into the prescription monitoring database to mitigate against misuse, abuse, and diversion
Late Cancellation Fees and Missed Appointment Charges
Conflicts like business meetings, sports practices and games, homework, and religious school commitments may create conflicts with your scheduled time. With enough notice, we can sometimes reschedule appointments within the same week, and if so there is no charge
If the time can be filled by another patient, you will not be charged for the late cancellation. Our staff are good at filling late cancellations, so please give us whatever notice you can, even if it less than 48 hours before your appointment. You may cancel your appointment without contacting our staff via the online scheduling portal (instructions included on your scheduling email). Once cancelled, automated messages will be sent to patients on our waitlist. Alternatively, you may email our clinical director at admin@dmvtreatment.com and we will do everything we can to fill the time and prevent a late cancellation charge
Insurance
Dr. Schubert is a TriCare certified out of network provider; His name appears on many insurance panel websites through his inpatient hospital consultation work, but his outpatient work does not contract with insurance companies.
Like many mental health practice in our area, we do not participate in Medicare, Medicaid, or any insurance company panels, but many of our patients are able to get some degree of reimbursement from their insurance carrier for "out-of-network" benefits or "non-participating" provider
Insurance companies place many constraints on mental health providers that limit our ability to offer the highest quality care to our patients. They require specific diagnoses codes for each session, and put stringent controls on the length and quantity of sessions based on their financial algorithms rather than quality of care. Additionally, confidentiality issues arise when providers are required to provide the full treatment notes to insurance companies with sensitive personal information. Our goal is to provide you with the optimal treatment tailored to your specific needs and not be held by the guidelines established by insurers
If you need to use your insurance coverage, the best way to access that is through your insurance company website. You may want to contact your insurance company to verify your mental health benefits prior to engaging in treatment
